Distinguished Visiting Chef Ian Kleinman at Johnson & Wales University

Colorado native, Ian Kleinman, has been cooking behind
Colorado’s favorite restaurants since he was 7. Following in his
father’s footsteps, he forged his culinary aspirations by working in
the family owned restaurant, The Gold Pan in Breckenridge. His
father would work on the line and Ian would work in the prep
area. Ian desperately tried to keep up with his father’s commands:
“more carne, more Salsa Verde!” He learned very early that kitchens
would be his passion.
A self-proclaimed kitchen rat, Ian is most comfortable on a busy
line with music blaring and his wait staff asking for special orders.
He has held several positions in the culinary field throughout the United States.

In 2006, Ian joined The Westin Westminster as Chef de Cuisine of O’s Steak and Seafood. Here he had the opportunity to focus on some of his signature dishes and develop his fascination with molecular gastronomy.
In 2009, Ian opened The Inventing Room, a catering company focusing on food entertainment. The company’s philosophy is to bring techniques developed in a fine dining kitchen to the masses which focuses on creating events that give guests a new dining experience. Ian is also the Corporate Chef for the Miracle Fruit Man, in the hopes of changing the way people view fruit.
Chef Kleinman has received several awards some of which are: being nationally recognized several times at the James Beard House in New York, featured chef in Restaurant Business 2002, and was inducted into the Colorado Institute Hall of Fame.
Ian currently lives in the Denver area and has 2 amazing daughters.
